About me

I’m Silvia, an introvert, a dreamer, and restless soul, passionate about the beauty and wisdom of Nature. I am fascinated by forests, mountains, plains, lakes, and seas. To fill this need to be closer to these elements in 2021, I moved from the city to the countryside.

In 2010, I created my first blog, Chegar (meaning “to arrive”, in Portuguese), where I shared my initial experiences of simple living and travels throughout unexplored regions of Portugal. Two years later, my first book was published – “30 Days to Discover Portugal” – a recount of my solo adventure, backpacking through the interior of the country for a month. In 2015, I received the international writing award Navigator, with a tale of an adventure through southern France.

Before that, my professional life gave me the opportunity to travel around the world, first as an international producer for a television network, later as a travel journalist. That’s how I discovered that I love traveling and exploring the world on solo adventures, at my own very unique pace. After more than ten years in the mass media industry, I realized that my happiness was not there. My introverted and highly-sensitive personality needed other elements for my creativity to continue to flourish.

I studied Chinese Medicine, lived in a Buddhist monastery, and became a full-time content creator. In addition to continuing to feed my blog, I wrote biographies, freelanced for various international publications, taught meditation and chi kung, and founded the course Fundamentals of a Minimalist Life.

The name Chegar eventually stopped making sense, and I started to use my name, Silvia, as my brand, reflecting that what I share and do is what I am passionate about.

Currently, I write about my minimalist lifestyle, share my adventures and discoveries around Portugal inlands and my occasional travels around the world. Always on a slow pace, allowing me to be mindful about the small details, the rhythm of nature, and to cultivate deep and meaningful human relationships.

I’m so happy you are here.

I invite you to follow my writings here, follow my Instagram profile here, and take a peek at the more visual side of my adventures on my YouTube channel.

Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier.
